About study at Urawa International School

Students have to take a placement test and they belong to the appropriate crass according to their level. We adopt direct method (We teach Japanese by Japanese. We don’t speak any other languages during the class) and we also encourage students to speak Japanese in the school.

First of all, students study beginners-level Japanese. They need to start from the basic things like easy grammar, reading, writing and daily conversation. Especially, we provide them useful instruction about Kanji, because it is so important when they write application documents at a city office, hospital, bank, etc. These things are essential for living in Japanese society.

Secondly, students study pre-intermediate and intermediate level. They start a new study, reviewing beginners-level grammars, the rules of reading and listening, and this is the important part to prepare for the advanced level. In this level, their goal is to be able to comprehend the contents of a long essay and conversation.

We also provide preparation lessons for JLPT. Students set a goal to pass JLPT N3 or N2, and some students target N1 as a higher goal. We conduct mock exam as the occasion demands. According to the result, teachers give students an advice and instruction for the actual exam.
